Why go to church (By Samuel Singh)

I've heard people say that Church is repetitious but then again so is the life that we lead. The structure of our lives are centered around our work, eating, family and recreational activities and numerous other things. Any and all of these activities can become boring if we don't strive to find something interesting or enjoyable about them. Sunday mornings at church happens to be a time to make new friends and renew old ones; to learn about the Bible and share problems as well as to thank God for another week of life. Besides, think about it for a minute, are we that busy that we can't spare a little time to worship God in fellowship and truth?

The objective in going to church is to seek to build our relationship with God and know him, listen to His word being preached and to worship in fellowship with others. After all, the Church is known as the Bride of Christ.  Some people go to church to fulfill an obligation through some ritual and so are reduced to actions without meaning. Think about it. If we get to comfortable with something, it can always loose its meaning to us. There are those who say, they "found God" when to go to Church, but the truth of the matter is that God is always there, we don't have to find Him, He is the one welcoming us back. We are the ones that need to come to our senses and need to be found. Remember the story of the Prodigal Son? Church worship is all about an encounter with God and others that changes who we are. Not going to church on a Sunday morning because you deserve a sleep-in does not explain why you miss church on Saturday or Sunday night. The problem is much deeper than the time of the day - it is a matter of selfishness. I know for a fact that we make an effort to go to a party, or a sport game or to hang out with friends at a bar. Why not make a special effort to go to Church?

My father always says; "Think of a car battery, it needs to be recharged or it will die. Or, think of having a oil lamp, you need to refill it with oil to keep it lit. When we go to church it is the same. We need to hear the Word of God to charge us for the week and sustain us, during the week the level gets low so we come back because it is a necessity."

Why go to Church?

If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this!
If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it.
If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope!

Why Go To Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them.. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing..... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

"When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, "Jesus, would you get that for me?"
